Literature Text

I took a sip of my drink.

"Why do we do this?"

"Because we can."

"Because we can what?"

He sneered.

"Because we can see them coming from a mile away,
Their heavy steps attracting every ravenous wolf in the area,
Screaming 'Come dine in my halls and drink with me my own wine'."

"So we eat them?"

"Not eat, but consume, like you would the air or the sun.
Every cloud and every rain drop and every last blade of grass.
Every person, place or thing you've ever known, you've consumed."

"I am the slayer of nouns."

"More than that."

I sighed.

"You scare me."

"You can't be scared of your own shadow."

He smiled.

"Do you trust me?"

"When have I ever trusted myself."

"There is nothing to be afraid of.
The end is very clear.
Let's just make sure we go out with a bang."

"This is simply the eye of the storm."

Arguing with our multiple, murderous personalities isn't something I have experience with. But I do understand arguing with myself and my various desires (be they good or ill).
